In March 2025, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced a deregulation policy that extends Climate Companion Card youth discounts to adolescents aged 13 to 18.
Previously available only to those aged 19 to 39, this expansion now benefits middle and high school students, significantly reducing transportation costs for young commuters.

⚠️ Discounts must be renewed every 6 months, and only one card per person is allowed.

3. Extended Bus Usage and Additional Benefits

To further improve access, Seoul has extended the free transfer time on village buses from 1 hour to 2 hours, lowering the risk of additional charges for longer travel.
The Climate Companion Card also integrates with Ttareungi, Seoul’s public bike system, making it easier to adopt eco-friendly mobility habits.

4. Policy Goals and Inquiries

This discount expansion is part of a broader effort to promote sustainable transport and transit equity among youth.
Seoul envisions a future where adolescents naturally use public transport and build habits that contribute to carbon neutrality.
